The Minnesota Vikings made it official just a few hours ago, confirming that they will be "hosting" a game in the United Kingdom next season.

On September 29, 2013, the Vikings will play host to the Pittsburgh Steelers at Wembley Stadium in London. Man, it's almost like someone predicted that.

From looking at the schedule, September 29 of 2013 looks to be around Week 4 of the 2013 NFL season (Week 4's game this year took place on September 30). So, one would expect the Vikings to have a pretty early bye week next season with that being the case.

Hopefully the Vikings will continue their record of success overseas. Minnesota has played games in overseas locales four times in their history, and have been victorious in all of those games. (Exhibition games, naturally, but still.) The Vikings played the first ever game in London back in 1983, when they defeated the (then) St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 28-10. They played the Chicago Bears in Göteborg, Sweden in 1984 and won by a score of 28-21.

The Vikings' second world tour began in 1993, when they traveled to Berlin for a game against the Buffalo Bills, coming out on top by a score of 20-6. Their last overseas jaunt took them to Tokyo, Japan, where they defeated the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 17-9.

So, go ahead and start booking your travel plans now, Vikings fans. Who's planning on making the trip?
