Which College Players Are Future Vikings Week 7 Review and Week 8 Primer

The first seven weeks of college football are in the books. There were some pretty good games too. Some teams were upset (exposed perhaps?) and some teams bounced back (maybe). West Virginia has to be feeling awful. But their defense is awful. This week they played a pretty good Texas Tech defense that held them in check. I think they are going to have to score a lot of points to win games.

Kevin Jairaj-US PRESSWIRE

Iowa State came close vs Kansas State but Collin Klein was just too much. Stanford and Notre Dame played a good game. The Cardinal came up a little short at the end. LSU held off South Carolina. Finally they beat a good team. At home albeit. But they deserve credit. Texas got shellacked. Maybe they are not that good either? That loss is not going to help West Virginia and could explain a lot. I wish I could have seen the Texas A&M vs Louisiana tech game. What a shootout. Rutgers continues to win.

I now am going to add a new category. Player of the Week.

I think it is a close call but I have to go with ...

Johnny Manziel

He completed 24 out of 40 passes for 395 yards with 3 TDs and 1 INT. He also rushed for 181 yards on 19 carries with 3 TDs.

Honorable mention goes to ...

Quinton Patton had 21 catches 233 yards and 4 TDs.
Collin Klein completed 16 out of 24 passes for 187 yards. He also rushed for 105 yards on 25 carries with 3 TDs.

I am listing some performances of some of the top players below. I might not have them all here so feel free to add a player who you think did really well and may have vaulted themselves up the draft boards.

Which games will you be watching and which players do you think would be great Vikings?

Here is my weekly mock. The Vikings had a setup back this week I suppose. Winning on the road is tough though. They are still looking good at 4-2 right now. I am thinking that 10-6 record may be tough so 9-7 is a more reasonable goal. As of today the Vikings would be picking 26th according to the records but the last 10 spots are determined by the results of the playoffs and then the records. I am going to go with #22 this week.

Another new mock. I like Williams and I think he is getting better and better each week. I expect he will be ranked high when it is all said and done.

Patton had a phenomenal game and looks really good to me. Just as good as any other WR that we could take at #52 (if he is even there).

Trufant is necessary as we have to add secondary help each and every year in order to continue to get better. Same goes for Williams.

Ansah is rising up boards very fast and probably will not be there especially when you consider the DE class is not very good this year. But the Vikings may want to consider a DE early especially if they do not plan on extending Allen. Allen's salary next year is huge. He is going to need to step up his game even more this year in order to justify that 16 mil cap hit next year IMHO. But then what after that?

I think offensive tackle could be a higher priority depending on what happens with Loadholt. If they do not sign him to an extension (I know they are trying) and he does not get better (more important) then they may want to get a first round tackle like a Jake Matthews or Eric Fisher. They do have some players like Mark Asper and have Kevin Murphy and Troy Kropog on the practice squad now. Demarcus Love will hopefully play next year so they may not feel they need a tackle early.

I needed to grab some LBs with potential and one more WR.

The UDFAs are the usual suspects although I did change it up a little.

Well there it is. I hope that you can watch your team(s) and provide some feedback on players you think that can make it in the NFL.
