Apologies for the late start on this one, ladies and gentlemen. Guess the Thursday night. . .ummm. . ."special," among other things, has me a bit out of rhythm this week.
College football for this Saturday has already kicked off, with most of the big action coming this afternoon or this evening. In Big Ten country, the Minnesota Golden Gophers travel to West Lafayette to take on the Purdue Boilermakers this afternoon, with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 PM Central time on the Big Ten Network. Michigan State and Wisconsin will also kick off from Camp Randall Stadium at that time. In the "this game would be huge if either of us could go to the post-season this year" bowl, Ohio State will head to Happy Valley to take on Penn State, starting at 4:30 PM Central, and Michigan travels to Nebraska this evening, with kickoff there scheduled for 7:00 PM Central. Iowa at Northwestern and Indiana at Illinois are already underway as we speak.
Other 2:30 PM Central time games include "The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party" when #2 Florida and #10 Georgia meet in Jacksonville, and another features #13 Texas Tech going to Manhattan, Kansas to take on (current) Heisman Trophy front-runner Colin Klein and #3 Kansas State. If you have ESPNU, there's a sleeper match-up that could be pretty good as Florida State hosts Duke. Yes, in football. I'm not sure if we're ready for a world where Duke is good at college football, too, but they're already bowl-eligible for the first time in years.
The main event of the evening, for my money, takes place in Norman, Oklahoma at 7:00 PM Central, at #5 Notre Dame comes to town to take on #8 Oklahoma.
Feel free to talk about those games or any other college football match-ups that tickle your fancy today, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy!
