College Football Saturday Open Thread

Brett Davis-US PRESSWIRE

Saturday is here again, ladies and gentlemen, and with it another big Saturday of college football.

In the Big Ten Conference, the Minnesota Golden Gophers will look to become bowl eligible for the first time in. . .well, a while. . .when they travel to Champaign to take on the Illinois Fighting Illini. That one kicks off at 2:30 PM Central time, and will be available on the Big Ten Network. For the Gophers' perspective, you can follow our friends at The Daily Gopher, and I'll be doing scoring updates over at SB Nation Minnesota. If you want the Illinois perspective, be sure to check out The Champaign Room, which I point out because it's quickly becoming my favorite SB Nation blog name.

The rest of the Big Ten schedule today looks like this:

-Wisconsin Badgers at Indiana Hoosiers, 11 AM Central time (ESPN 2)
-Northwestern Wildcats at Michigan Wolverines, 11 AM Central time (ESPN)
-Purdue Boilermakers at Iowa Hawkeyes, 11 AM Central time (Big Ten Network)
-Penn State Nittany Lions at Nebraska Cornhuskers, 2:30 PM Central time (ABC/ESPN)

For all your Big Ten football coverage, be sure to check out Off-Tackle Empire. The open threads over there are awesome and can always use more participation.

As for the rest of the schedule across the land, there are three matchups between teams in the top 25 today. At 2 PM Central time, the #11 Oregon State Beavers head down the west coast to take on the #14 Stanford Cardinal. At 2:30 PM, the #15 Texas A&M Aggies will take their shot at knocking off #1 Alabama down in Tuscaloosa. Last, at 6 PM Central time, the #21 Mississippi State Bulldogs will battle the #7 LSU Tigers.

There are plenty of other games on the schedule as well, so grab a chair and your favorite beverage and talk about some college football with your fellow Vikings' fans today!
