Yes, it's once again time to prepare for kickoff of another Saturday of college football action.
Normally I would have put up a post about where scouting guru Chris Steuber has the scouts for the Minnesota Vikings at today, but according to his Twitter feed, he's only got them at two games. . .the game between the Washington Huskies and the Colorado Buffaloes, and the game between the Miami Hurricanes and the South Florida Bulls. So there's that.
In Big Ten country, it's coming down to the wire for teams attempting to get bowl eligible. The Big Ten has eight bowl games that they have connections to, but at this point only have five bowl-eligible teams (the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Michigan Wolverines, Wisconsin Badgers, Northwestern Wildcats, and Minnesota Golden Gophers). The Ohio State Buckeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions are not eligible for post-season play due to various NCAA sanctions. The Iowa Hawkeyes, Michigan State Spartans, Purdue Boilermakers, and Indiana Hoosiers all have a chance to get eligible depending on how they perform in the final two weeks of the season.
For all of the Big Ten action, the place to be is Off-Tackle Empire, SB Nation's home for everything relating to Big Ten Football. Here's what the Big Ten slate for today looks like:
Northwestern Wildcats at Michigan State Spartans
Iowa Hawkeyes at #21 Michigan Wolverines
Indiana Hoosiers at Penn State Nittany Lions
Minnesota Golden Gophers at #14 Nebraska Cornhuskers
Ohio State Buckeyes at Wisconsin Badgers
Purdue Boilermakers at Illinois Fighting Illini
There are three games today that involve a match-up of Top 25 teams, and they all take place west of the Mississippi. At 2:05 PM Central, we get an interesting Pac 12 match-up between the #17 UCLA Bruins and the #18 USC Trojans. (No, that's not a misprint. . .the Bruins are above the Trojans at the present time.) Keep an eye on Twitter after the game. . .per a bet that was made, either Chris Kluwe or Matt Kalil will be doing push-ups at midfield at the Rose Bowl after the game, depending on which team wins.
At 2:30 PM Central, the #23 Texas Tech Red Raiders travel to Stillwater to take on the #24 Oklahoma State Cowboys in Big 12 action. The main event comes at 7 PM Central, with the #13 Stanford Cardinal heading to Autzen Stadium to battle it out with the #2 ranked Oregon Ducks.
That's your Saturday afternoon of college football, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy!
