Vikings At Texans: Second Quarter Open Thread

A very eventful first quarter at Reliant Stadium for the Houston Texans and the Minnesota Vikings, as the road team leads after the first fifteen minutes by a score of .

The Texans got the ball first, and thanks to a penalty, had a drive that went for longer than it probably should have. But, after a nice stop on third down by the Vikings, the home team had to settle for a 51-yard field goal from Shayne Graham to take an early 3-0 lead.

The Vikings took over after that, and after a false start penalty by Kyle Rudolph, Adrian Peterson ripped off 20 yards on his first carry. His next three carries netted zero yards, but the Vikings. . .as they did on their first drive against St. Louis. . .rode Christian Ponder to a score, as he completed all three of his pass attempts for 62 yards. He hit Kyle Rudolph for 27 yards (aided by a nice block by Jerome Simpson) and then found Michael Jenkins for 32 more. After Peterson got stuffed at the goal line, Ponder found Rudolph again for the big tight end's ninth touchdown catch of the year from three yards out. The extra point from Blair Walsh gave the Vikings a 7-3 lead.

The two teams then exchanged three and outs, and now the Texans are driving as we move to the second quarter of play. They're currently looking at a third down in Vikings territory.

Keep it right here, folks!
