Chad Greenway To Vikings Fans: Get "Super-Duper Drunk"

New, comments

Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway picked an interesting way to fire up his fans before the upcoming game with the Bears.

The last couple Vikings games have been about as bad as it can get. Our favorite team has been trounced on the road by hated rivals in back to back weeks, which is never any fun. It has been so dismal that the Vikings have probably driven many a fan to drink. (I know I've had a beer or two to take the edge off a couple times this season after particularly bad losses. Judging from our game thread comments, I'm definitely not alone.)

Apparently some of the Vikings players are aware of what they're putting their fans through. They realize that their season is on the line Sunday at the Metrodome against the Bears. They need the crowd behind them if they're going to pull the upset over Chicago. So to make sure that home field advantage is in full effect, Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway had some excellent sound bites for Star Tribune's Mark Craig:

"We have to play accordingly and our fans have to show up accordingly, which we know they will," he said after Sunday's loss at Green Bay. "Hopefully, they're super-duper drunk. ... So drink liquor, not beer."

OK then! Liquor before a noon kickoff! I like this guy's style! Are you sure about that, Chad?

"Yeah, I would say morning drinking," Greenway said. "Why not? You could pull an all-nighter. Then you'd have the drunk, tired guys who will really be obnoxious."

Wow. After Sunday's game, I thought I had a new favorite player after Kyle Rudolph did the Lambeau Leap. And now Chad Greenway says this? You guys are making it too hard for me to choose!

Well, Vikings fans that are headed to the Metrodome this Sunday, the gauntlet has officially been thrown down. Don't disappoint your team's leading tackler. Get started on Saturday night and don't stop until the final whistle on Sunday!

And oh yeah--don't drive home if you follow Greenway's instructions!
