NFL Day Three: Round 5 Open Thread

While many thought that the Vikings would deal to get in early on in the fourth round, Rick Spielman & company held their ground until their allotted picks arrived.

But then the action came fast and furious.

The Vikings took three players in the fourth round, including:

  1. Jarius Wright, WR Arkanas (118th overall)
  2. Rhett Ellison, TE USC (128th overall)
  3. Greg Childs, WR Arkansas (134th overall)
You read that right: the Vikings took not one but two Arkansas wide receivers. While WR was a need position, I think the drafting a TE was shocking to just about everyone. We'll have lots more news about the latest picks as well as more coverage of any press conferences and conference calls, but in the mean time there's still lots of draft left. As it stands right now, the Vikings still have six picks in the last three rounds.

Ted is hitting the road and heading back to St. Louis shortly, but I'll be here at Vikings HQ until Mr. Irrelevant is chosen. Join us in the comment thread below to share your thoughts on how things have developed thus far and what you think the Vikings should do in the last three rounds of the draft.
