EDIT: The Vikings also sent the Lions pick #223 in this year's draft, which is the pick they got from New England for the Randy Moss trade. The Vikings now have four picks remaining. . .#175 in the sixth round, and #210, #211, and #219 in the seventh round. - Chris
The Minnesota Vikings did not select at #138, as they dealt the pick to the Detroit Lions for a seventh-round pick in this year's draft (#219 overall) and a fourth-round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft.
With the 139th pick, the Minnesota Vikings selected cornerback Robert Blanton out of Notre Dame.
Blanton had 70 tackles, eight of which were for a loss, and two interceptions in 2011. Though he played corner at Notre Dame, many scouts feel that he projects to the safety position in the National Football League. He measures in at just a shade under 6'1" and about 210 pounds.
The Vikings have continued their trend of taking teammates with this pick. They took Matt Kalil and Rhett Ellison out of USC earlier in the draft, as well as Arkansas teammates Jarius Wright and Greg Childs. Now they've taken Blanton to go along with Harrison Smith, who the Vikings took in Round One.
Now, the Vikings have a little bit of a breather, as they don't currently have a pick until the fifth pick of the sixth round. Take a break, ladies and gentlemen. We've earned it.
