EDIT: Update. . .not sure how this qualifies as third-degree anything, but we don't have all the facts.
The 22-year-old male Caleb King allegedly assaulted is hospitalized with a skull fracture, facial fracture and possible serious brain injury

Let's break up all this draft-day excitement with a dispatch from the police blotter, shall we?
Minnesota Vikings' running back Caleb King, signed by the Vikings and placed on the practice squad shortly after the NFL lockout, was arrested in Anoka County this morning on suspicion of third-degree assault. He is still in the Anoka County Jail at this time.
King applied for last year's Supplemental Draft after the lockout ended, but no team took him during that process, making him an unrestricted free agent. The Vikings later signed him for a $5,000 bonus. He was waived in the final cut down, but remained on the practice squad. He was promoted to the 53-man roster for the season finale, but was not active for the game against the Chicago Bears.
The Vikings figured to have a bit of a log jam at the running back position going into mini-camps and other off-season activities. It looks like one of those logs is in now in a position to get cut. (Log? Cut? See what I did there?)
Anyway, back to the draft after this minor interruption.
