With their first pick in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings finally addressed the linebacker position by grabbing North Carolina State's Audie Cole.

Cole is a 6'4", 245-pound linebacker that figures to be more of an inside backer in the Vikings' 4-3 defense. He had 97 tackles and two forced fumbles for the Wolfpack last season. He was also one of the players that the Vikings' coaching staff had in this year's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, so they apparently saw something they liked out of him during their time coaching the North squad.

Cole was projected as someone that could have gone much higher, but is one of the many players that has fallen to the later portion of the draft. He doesn't appear to be a big coverage guy, so he could be a two-down middle linebacker for the Vikings, and could also play a key role on special teams, which is what you'd expect from a player taken in the seventh round.

The Vikings were supposed to have a selection at #211 overall as well, but they have dealt that pick to the Tennessee Titans. We'll see what they received as compensation for that.
