Minnesota Vikings Rookies Get Uniform Numbers

The good news is that if you already bought a "Smith #22" jersey, you're alright. The bad news is that if you already bought a "Kalil #67" jersey. . .well, you'd better inquire about a refund. (Mandatory Credit: Greg Smith-US PRESSWIRE)

The newest members of the Minnesota Vikings were assigned uniform numbers on Wednesday, although it appears that at least one of them is going to be temporary. According to the Vikings' website, here are the new numbers for all the players that were drafted last week.

Matt Kalil - #75 (Appears he made a deal with DeMarcus Love, who had the number last year. Love is now shown as #73.)
Harrison Smith - #22 (Paul Krause's old number. . .why the hell is that not retired yet?)
Josh Robinson - #31 (Chris Cook has apparently switched to #20)
Jarius Wright - #1 (Explanation below.)
Rhett Ellison - #40 (Yeah, he doesn't have big shoes to fill or anything, eh?)
Greg Childs - #85 (Guess Greg Camarillo isn't coming back.)
Robert Blanton - #36 (Brandon Burton was #36 last year. He's now #27.)
Blair Walsh - #3
Audie Cole - #57
Trevor Guyton - #92

Per NFL rules, wide receivers have to wear numbers between 10-19 or 80-89. So, I'm not completely sure why Jarius Wright is wearing #1. It appears as though all of those numbers are taken (except for 80, which is retired, and 87, which was Bernard Berrian's number last year, so why on earth would anyone want it), so I'm guessing that's why Jarius Wright is currently wearing #1. As a result, he'll change once some cuts are made and some of the other numbers open up.

But those are the new uniform numbers for your newest members of the Minnesota Vikings.
