The NFL's annual "Broadcast Boot Camp" is taking place this week at the NFL Films complex in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. Twenty-three current and former players are taking part in the camp, and among them is free agent safety Melvin Bullitt. According to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com, the Vikings have apparently expressed an interest in potentially acquiring Bullitt's services.

After playing his college football at Texas A&M, Bullitt signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent following the 2007 NFL Draft. He played in 44 of 48 games in his first three seasons in the NFL, but has only played six games over the last two years because of a litany of injuries, including just two games in 2011.
The 6'1", 200-pound Bullitt seems to be the kind of player that Rick Spielman has been taking chances this off-season. . .relatively low investment price with a fairly decent ceiling. If he could stay healthy, he would be an interesting addition to the Vikings' safety mix.
