Over at PFT, Eric Kuselias of NBC Sports (and hey, when did he leave ESPN?) interviewed Jared Allen about the upcoming season, and the interview was pure, 100% Jared Allen.
In other words, it was awesome. Click here to watch it. C'mon, it's Friday. It's not like you're going to get any work done anyway.
The headline at PFT, where he seemingly sends a shot across the bow to rookie LT Matt Kalil, seems all tongue in cheek. Allen talks about getting close to the sack record, talks about the differences in the quarterbacks in the NFC North, which LT he would not want to face if he only needed one sack to break the record, and seems to have a pretty good time doing it.
He also talks about his high point and low point as a Viking, and seems pretty philosophical about the chances of the 2012 team:
"I don’t know what our expectations are, and that can actually be a good thing," Allen said. "Coming off a 3-13 season, no one expects us to do anything, so we can fly under the radar, focus on being a solid team and putting win after win together."
I'm not ready to call the Vikings a Super Bowl team, or even necessarily a playoff team, but they're going to be a lot better than people think.
