We're back here at the Media Center in Mankato, ready to provide you with our second day of comprehensive coverage of Minnesota Vikings Training Camp.
We hope you enjoyed yesterday's coverage, because today will be a lot more of the same. Today's schedule is just like yesterday's--walk-thru from 10:30 - 11:30 AM followed by a full-pads practice from 2:45 - 5:00 PM. Instead of Leslie Frazier at the podium after the morning session, we'll get to hear from new Defensive Coordinator Alan Williams.
But there is a little bonus coverage we hope to provide you--there's a conference call with 2012 Hall of Famer Chris Doleman today at 2:00, and we'll do our best to get you a recap of that.
During all our manic posts and Tweets yesterday, I forgot to let you know that I was able to chat briefly with young DE D'Aundre Reed after the afternoon session yesterday. He was incredibly excited to finally hit someone in the first fully padded practice yesterday. "It felt amazing. It's been a while, so it felt real good to get back out there," Reed explained. He said the technique work they worked on along the defensive line was the same sort of stuff that they had been working on throughout training camp. (As I stated yesterday, they covered a lot of hand placement and making sure not to over-pursue on certain types of plays.)
Since this is his first year with a full training camp, he appreciated the ability to go over the little things without a lockout in place. "Just going over the details, learning about everything in OTAs. Last year we just rolled right into it. This time we get to go in depth with plays and cover the offense. I definitely feel more prepared [this time around]."
If you have any suggestions about things you'd like us to cover today, please let us know in the comments and we'll do our best to answer your questions. We'll be switching things up today--I'll be taking a look at the offense and Arif will be covering the defensive side of the ball.
