Sincere apologies for my absence the last couple of days. We've gotten some news that's thrown us for a bit of a loop recently (career-related. . .and nothing bad), so I've been attending to that, but it's not going to keep me from this. Yes, after more than eight months of waiting, it's time for the Minnesota Vikings' first pre-season game of the year, less than one hour from now. The game is on WUCW 23 on local television, and through various different means (legal and illegal) on the internet.

Disclaimer: DO NOT PROMOTE ANY OF SAID ILLEGAL SOURCES IN THIS GAME THREAD! Spread the word all you want about the legal sources, however.

So, with that, what are we looking for this evening?

1) No significant injuries - This should be the main goal of every pre-season game. Lord knows we've already had our fill.

2) How does the new offensive line look? - The Vikings have re-tooled the offensive line, with Matt Kalil at left tackle, Charlie Johnson sliding inside to left guard, and Brandon Fusco taking over at right guard. The first stringers will likely play only a series or two this evening, but it will be interesting to see how the new offensive line matches up with the Niners' first-string defense, a unit that might be the best in the NFL.

3) Filling out the depth chart - The big point of the first pre-season game is to see who deserves more reps in the second and third pre-season games. There are still some battles left for the Vikings, such as the depth chart at cornerback, backup offensive linemen, and other spots. It will be worth it to stick with this one all the way to the end in order to see who we're going to be seeing more of the next few weeks.

A few big-name Vikings won't be playing this evening, including Percy Harvin, Antoine Winfield, Kevin Williams, and Jared Allen. But you know what? I don't even care. . .because, ladies and gentlemen, it's football time.

SKOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL VIKINGS!!!!
