Ted briefly touched on some of the news relating to the injury report earlier on, but now we'll take a look at the full injury reports for both the San Francisco 49ers and the Minnesota Vikings going into Sunday afternoon's game at the Metrodome.
We'll start with the visiting 49ers. Their injury report is very short and very easy to comprehend.
Player | Position | Injury | Sunday Status |
Ted Ginn, Jr. | WR | Ankle | Questionable |
Brandon Jacobs | RB | Knee | Questionable |
Andy Lee | P | Hand | Probable |
Yeah, their injury report is so short, they had to tack the punter on to the end of it to make it look more impressive. But, in the immortal words of Tony Kornheiser, that's it. That's the list.
Jacobs hasn't practiced all week, and I'd be sort of surprised to see him out there on Sunday. Kendall Hunter will be the primary backup to Frank Gore. Ted Ginn, as David Fucillo mentioned in our Google+ Hangout, wouldn't have much of an impact as a receiver if he were to play, but could potentially be a significant absence in the 49ers return game. Kyle Williams, he of the two muffed punts in last year's NFC Championship Game, has been handling return duties for San Francisco thus far.
No word on the status of Ted Ginn's family.
Vikings stuff after the jump.
The Vikings' injury report is significantly longer than the Niners' list is, and there are a couple of bigger names on it.
Player | Position | Injury | Sunday Status |
Erin Henderson | LB | Concussion | Out |
D'Aundre Reed | DE | Calf | Out |
Rhett Ellison | TE | Ankle | Probable |
Marvin Mitchell | LB | Ankle | Probable |
Brian Robison | DE | Elbow | Probable |
Andrew Sendejo | S | Ankle | Probable |
Jarius Wright | WR | Ankle | Probable |
Chris Cook | CB | Biceps | N/A |
John Sullivan | C | Ankle | N/A |
The game status for Cook and Sullivan is not shown on the injury report, and it doesn't have a Friday practice status for Sullivan, but I'm going to assume that both men are playing until we definitively hear otherwise. Everyone listed above was a full participant in Friday's practice, with the exception of Henderson and Reed (and, as mentioned, maybe Sullivan).
Obviously, the biggest name on this list for Vikings fans is Henderson. His concussion symptoms weren't visible immediately. . .I'm pretty sure he didn't miss any time in the Indianapolis game. . .but things have gotten bad enough where he apparently hasn't passed the battery of tests that would allow him to play this Sunday. Marvin Mitchell will take his place at the weak side linebacker spot in the base defense, and Jasper Brinkley will stay on the field with Chad Greenway in nickel situations. Oh, and Audie Cole will be "up" as well, it appears, so hooray for that.
And there you have the final injury reports for the Vikings and the 49ers going into this Sunday's game.
