The college football All-Star Game season is upon us, and first up will be the East-West Shrine Bowl from lovely Tampa, Florida. There are a few names that should interest Vikings fans. . .well, they interest me, anyway. Among them. . .
Trent Steelman, WR, East - Not because he's a super great prospect or anything, but because he played quarterback at Army, and is now trying to catch on as a wide receiver. He, along with Navy receiver Brandon Turner, make up the military contingent in today's game. Pretty cool story about him at SBNation.com from Alfie Crow, the lead blogger over at Big Cat Country. Alfie's been basically killing it all week with Shrine Game coverage.
Jasper Collins, WR, West - The 5'11", 190-pound Collins is attempting to continue what has become a recent tradition of receivers from Mount Union getting drafted into the NFL. Pierre Garcon was a member of the Purple Raiders, as was Cecil Shorts. It will be interesting to see if he can live up to that billing.
A.J. Francis, DT, East - He's listed at most places I've looked at as a fifth or sixth-round pick. He's been the starter at nose tackle for Maryland for the past few years. The Vikings need help in the interior of the defensive line, and Francis is a guy that the Vikings could have an eye on.
Trey Wilson, CB, East - Started opposite Casey Heyward for the Vanderbilt Commodores in 2011, and did a pretty decent job without him on the other side in 2012. Can't have too many cornerbacks in today's NFL, particularly in the NFC North.
Blaize Foltz, G, West - Another potential late round prospect at a position where the Vikings could use some help. Heck, he might be worth drafting for the name alone. But he was part of a very solid offensive line at TCU.
Here are all the particulars about how you can catch the game today.
Kickoff Time - Saturday, January 19 at 3:00 PM Central time
Location - Tropicana Field, Tampa, Florida
Television Coverage - NFL Network
There's also a list of stations that will be streaming the game, and the Shrine Game site itself will be streaming it as well.
SBNation.com has a whole group dedicated to today's game, and we have a series of videos for you to take a look at leading up to kickoff as well. Enjoy, everyone!
