Peterson Dealing With "Tragic" Situation In Sioux Falls

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson missed practice on Thursday afternoon, and the team didn't say why the star running back was gone. It was said that he was attending to a "personal matter," and he was actually later spotted in . .of all places. . .Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It seemed a bit unusual, to say the least.

Well, now we know why it is that he was there. . .and, from all appearances, it isn't good.

This is a tweet from Stu Whitney of the Argus Leader, a Sioux Falls-based newspaper.

Per Pro Football Talk, a 2-year old boy was taken to a hospital in Sioux Falls on Wednesday evening, and that the boy had injuries that were "consistent with abuse." Though it has not been confirmed by anybody, there are thoughts that the child could be Peterson's son. A Sioux Falls man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery of an infant. That man is set to appear in court at 11:30 AM Central time today.

There have been reports that the two cases are connected.

While we don't know for sure that this is why Peterson is in Sioux Falls at the present time, it is kind of hard to ignore the coincidences that folks have brought to light in this case.

We will continue to have more on this story as it develops. For now, our thoughts and prayers are with the Peterson family.
