Minnesota Vikings At New York Giants: Final Injury Reports

Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

In anticipation of this Monday night's contest, both the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Giants have released their final injury reports. Let's take a look at both teams, starting with the visitors as we always do.

Player Position Injury Monday Status
A.J. Jefferson CB Ankle Doubtful
Rodney Smith WR Hip Doubtful
Matt Kalil OT Back Questionable
Jared Allen DE Ankle Probable
Rhett Ellison TE Knee Probable
Adrian Peterson RB Hamstring Probable
Christian Ponder QB Rib Probable
Xavier Rhodes CB Ankle Probable
John Sullivan C Hand Probable
Blair Walsh K Hamstring Probable
Kevin Williams DT Knee Probable
Jarius Wright WR Ankle Probable

Man. . .that's a whole lot of names, but not a lot of guys expected to miss action. Matt Kalil is a bit of a worry. . .the Vikings' offensive line has been pretty shaky with him, but without him it would be a complete disaster. But all indications are that he's going to give it a go. Walsh's hamstring issue is with his plant leg, not his kicking leg, and he's had the issue for a couple of weeks now. No other major issues on the report for the Vikings, though we would like to congratulate Rodney Smith, who apparently celebrated his promotion to the 53-man roster by getting hurt seriously enough to be listed as doubtful.

And now, on to the home team, the New York Football Giants.

Player Position Injury Monday Status
Jayron Hosley CB Hamstring Out
David Wilson RB Neck Out
Brandon Jacobs RB Hamstring Questionable
Jason Pierre-Paul DE Illness Questionable
Adrien Robinson TE Foot Questionable
Cooper Taylor S Shoulder Questionable
David Baas C Knee Probable
Terrell Thomas CB Knee Probable
Corey Webster CB Groin Probable

As Ed Valentine mentioned in our "Five Good Questions" piece, the Giants are having some issues at running back, with Wilson out and Jacobs ailing. It appears they're also having some injury problems in the defensive backfield with three corners listed in their report. Will the Vikings be able to take advantage of it? That will be a big key on Monday night.

And that's a look at the injury reports for both teams, ladies and gentlemen. Hopefully neither team will be adding to this list following Monday's contest.
