Minnesota Vikings News And Links, 10/4

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

My apologies for getting the Open Thread for today up a little later than normal. I generally try to get these posted by 7 AM Central time each day, but a few things got in the way of that in this case. Thank you for your patience and your understanding.

It is, in fact, Friday, which is nice as it is. . .unfortunately, there isn't any Minnesota Vikings' football to look forward to this weekend, but I think we can survive it. Pretty sure we've done it before.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. .

-The Tampa Bay Buccaneers canceled the Josh Freeman circus on Thursday, and Arif feels that the Vikings should jump at the chance to sign him.

-Speaking of Arif, he and the guys got another installment of Norse Code prepared for your listening pleasure.

-The Minnesota Vikings spoke to the Minnesota Facilities Commission yesterday about some of the details of the stadium deal.

-Depending on the severity of Christian Ponder's injury, there might not be a quarterback controversy after all.

-Rookie wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson has been named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Month for September.

-Eric has his picks article for this week up, including what some of the members of our favorite team are doing during their week off.

From some other outposts across the internet. . .

-Approximately three-quarters of the seats in the new Vikings stadium will have seat licenses attached.

-Again, stop me if you've heard this one, but the Vikings have some issues at cornerback.

-Greg Jennings has continued his outstanding charitable work since coming to Minnesota.

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been, ladies and gentlemen. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum/use the spoiler tags if you feel you absolutely must curse.

Our week of Kiss songs concludes with. . .well, the obvious one.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Friday, ladies and gentlemen! Enjoy the rest of your day, and have your eyes peeled for anything we might have for you going forward.
