It's Friday, it's the first of November, and we're almost to the weekend, ladies and gentlemen! And today we're, apparently, going to find out who the Minnesota Vikings will be starting at quarterback against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. I know, the suspense is killing me, too (except it's not).

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-Mark has his weekly look at what's going on this weekend in college football.

-Eric gave us his weekly picks column.

-Arif and company gave us the latest installment of Norse Code.

From some other outlets around the internet. . .

-Defensive coordinator Alan Williams is telling his charges to stay the course. Seems to be working so far.

-The three rookies the Vikings selected in the first round this year have gotten mixed results so far in 2013.

-Adrian Peterson would like the Vikings to emphasize the run a little more. This puts him in the same boat as pretty much every Vikings fan everywhere.

-A bit of a stir was caused when it was mentioned yesterday that Christian and Samantha Ponder had put their house on Lake Minnetonka up for sale.

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been, ladies and gentlemen. . .no religion, no politics, no feeding of the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum/use the spoiler tags if you feel that you absolutely must curse.

We wrap up Lou Reed week in our ambient music selections with his most well-known song. It has some potentially offensive subject matter and/or lyrics. You've been warned.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Friday, everybody! We'll have more for you as the day goes on, including the trilling conclusion of this week's episode of "Who will the Vikings start at quarterback this week?"
