Remember when I said last week that Christian Ponder's dislocated shoulder could, potentially, end his 2013 season?
Oops.
1500 ESPN in the Twin Cities is reporting that Ponder is in line to start Sunday afternoon's contest against the Seattle Seahawks. According to the report, he will wear a harness on his injured left (non-throwing) shoulder, but does not plan on wearing any additional padding.
This will mark Ponder's fourth consecutive start, which will be the high-water mark for Minnesota Vikings' quarterbacks this season. Ponder started the first three games of the year, followed by two starts from Matt Cassel and a start from Josh Freeman before the team went back to Ponder.
The coaching staff apparently feels that Ponder still gives the team the best opportunity to win. Matt Cassel will almost certainly be the backup, while Josh Freeman will continue to collect paychecks for doing. . .well, whatever it is he's been doing for the last four weeks. Nice gig, if you can get it.
