The final score between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers wasn't the only thing that wound up in a tie this past Sunday at Lambeau Field. By the end of the day, it turned out that there was a knot that was going to be tied as well.
From this story in the Green Bay Press Gazette, a couple of crazy kids got engaged at halftime of the game at Lambeau Field. Chad Snater, who grew up in Iowa, proposed to his girlfriend, Wisconsin native Gena Hillcoat, courtesy of a bunch of complete strangers that participated in a card stunt that you probably saw on the broadcast of the game.
It appears that it's going to be one of those "mixed marriages."
Hillcoat, described as "a die-hard Packer fan," said yes as her beau, the Vikings fan, knelt and held out an engagement ring.
...
Snater and Hillcoat live in Gainesville, Fla., but she's from Reedsburg in south-central Wisconsin. He grew up in Mason City, Iowa - that's where he became a Vikings fan - but moved to Madison when he was 20.
Man. . .all the way from Central Florida to freeze your tail off and see a game that ends in a tie? Oh, well. . .I'm guessing that, years from now, they're not going to care about how the game turned out.
Congratulations to Chad and Gena on their engagement, and may they have a long and happy marriage.
And may all of their children be Vikings fans.
