After nine weeks of National Football League action, there's a three-way tie for first place in the NFC North. . .and then there's our Minnesota Vikings. Ah, well, this season is completely lost, and we know that already. Just time to hope for the best at this point.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-The Vikings remain the owners of the #3 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. . .or, rather, they would be if the season ended today.

-Eric passed along more good news, letting us know that tight end Kyle Rudolph will be out for 4-6 weeks with a broken foot.

-We brought you a video from the mothership about Adrian Peterson's big day this past Sunday.

From some other outposts around the internet. . .

-It appears that Christian Ponder is the Vikings quarterback of the (near) future.

-Contrary to past seasons, the injuries are really starting to pile up for the Vikings.

-Former Vikings wide receiver Cris Carter will receive his Hall of Fame ring at halftime of Thursday night's game against the Washington Redskins.

The rules of the open thread are the same as they've always been, folks. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum/use the spoiler tags if you feel you absolutely must curse.

MOAR METALLICA as our week moves ahead, this one from what might be my favorite album of theirs.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Tuesday, ladies and gentlemen. Keep your eyes out for more as we go forward today.
