Jerome Simpson Busted for DWI

It's the latest in a series of run-ins with the law

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

According to this report right here from Joy Powell of the Strib, Vikings WR Jerome Simpson was detained overnight on suspicion of DWI at the Hennepin County jail.

Well, 'detained overnight' is a bit of a stretch, as Simpson wasn't processed until after 5:30 in the morning.

Dude, seriously? My Dad always told me nothing good happens after midnight, and it just gets worse the later the night goes. Anyway, the Vikings released your typical 'we're aware and monitoring the situation' statement, which you can read here if you'd like.

Simpson arrived in Minnesota facing a three game suspension after being placed on probation for trafficking in marijuana in Kentucky. If you'll remember, he had over two pounds of marijuana..wait for it...mailed to his house, and he pleaded guilty to a felony trafficking charge. He avoided a jail sentence by accepting probation, and it will be interesting to see what happens with his previous charge now that he has been arrested once again.

Simpson signed a one year contract last year, and was largely disappointing. But the Vikings signed him to another one year 'prove it' contract for 2013, and he has been a lot more productive for the Vikings. He's second on the team in receptions, and leads the Vikings in receiving yards.
