Report: Adrian Peterson To Miss Week 15 Game Against Philadelphia Eagles

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

While we've reported that Minnesota Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson has avoided any serious injury and will not need surgery on his injured foot, it looks like that it's going to be serious enough to keep him on the sideline for Week 15.

Ben Goessling of ESPN.com is reporting that, according to someone with "knowledge of the situation," Peterson will be sitting out this weekend's contest at the Metrodome against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Peterson, who has been passed by Eagles' running back LeSean McCoy for the league rushing lead, was not able to do much against the Ravens last Sunday before going out with the foot injury. If he isn't able to go, you can expect a lot of Toby Gerhart on Sunday at the Metrodome. (Fantasy football owners, plan accordingly.)

We know about Peterson's ability to heal quickly, and you know that he's going to be itching to play on Sunday, but the Vikings will have to decide whether or not that happens. Even if he were to play, it would be crazy to expect anywhere near a full workload for the NFL's best running back.

We'll keep an eye on this one for the rest of the week, but don't get your hopes up for Adrian Peterson taking the field this weekend, folks.
