Editor's Note—CCNorseman was supposed to post the open thread, but he is bad at it or something. I don't know, something to do with the internet. Anyway, he claims he's stolen the Friday Open Thread when all he did was pass it along to me. Anyway, here is what he wrote to get things going on a Friday:
Woo Hoo! I've swooped in and stolen the Friday Open Thread from under the feet of Fearless Leader! Actually...he's traveling and unable to get the open thread posted this morning. So, as the newbie front page writer, I volunteered to get my ass up early schedule this post to go live at 7am for all you glorious fine folks.
Since the last time we brought you an open thread we...well...didn't really post anything. Sorry about that. If the post had gone up on time yesterday morning, I might have included a link to Eric's picks article. But since that was linked in the previous open thread, I've got zilch, nada, nothing for you. But rest assured, we'll have more stuff coming later today and through the weekend as we gear up for the matchup with the Cincinatti Bengals.
From some other sources around the interwebs:
Tight End John Carlson may not play this Sunday after all as he had a setback after Wednesday's practice and is back in the concussion protocol. He might even discuss retirement with his wife after the season.
There was a slew of other injury news after practice yesterday, but we'll see where everyone is when the final injury report is released later today.
Jared Allen is closing in on the 13th spot of the all-time sack leader list.
Speaking of having a shot at the sack record, Starting Pro Bowl Left Tackle of the Cincinatti Bengals Andrew Whitworth, suffered a concussion in practice on Wednesday and sat out yesterday's practice. He joins a few others that suffered injuries in last week's game.
ESPN Insider (subscription required) discusses their top 4 former head coaches that could see a return to the NFL. They are: Lovie Smith (who just interviewed with Houston), Jon Gruden, Ken Whisenhunt and Jack Del Rio.
[EDIT: ARIF PUT TOGETHER A KICKASS PODCAST AND YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO IT HE'S THE BEST - CCNORSEMAN WROTE THIS PART DEFINITELY]
My rules of the Open Thread are the same old rules as always men and women. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum/use the spoiler tags if you feel that you absolutely must curse.
I'm super excited to pick the video selection today. I was thinking about classing this joint up with some epic symphonic music, but since I'm also a huge metal head, I decided to just combine the two. So, here is some Apocalyptica playing Metallica's One on 4 cellos.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Friday. . .and we hope that you enjoy what is hopefully the last work day for many of you before you get a nice holiday break!
