Leslie Frazier Still Has Some Important Supporters

The odds are pretty good that this Sunday's contest against the Detroit Lions at the Metrodome will be the final game for Leslie Frazier as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. However, a couple of prominent Vikings would, apparently, like him to stay around. . .foremost among them being the NFL's reigning Most Valuable Player.

Running back Adrian Peterson has pretty much said that he does not want the Vikings to make a change on the sideline going into next season.

"I try to say what I have to say," Peterson said. "There's a time and place for everything. And with the season (winding down), that time is coming. I'm going to give my input and see what they have to say and go from there. ... Right now, I'm just trying to focus on finishing the season strong, with Detroit. And then that's when I'm sure things will get rolling, and we'll see what's going to go down."

Receiver Greg Jennings, who has only played one season under Frazier, has also expressed his support for his current coach. Defensive end Jared Allen, who is also likely participating in his final game for the Vikings, declined to comment.

Frazier has compiled a 20-32-1 record as the Vikings coach since taking over for Brad Childress during the 2010 season. He's had just one winning season and one playoff appearance sandwiched between two pretty dismal seasons, and at this point it seems to be a long shot at best that he will be back for the 2014 season. At least a couple of current players would like him back, but it remains to be seen exactly how much sway those opinions will have on Zygi Wilf and company.
