Minnesota Vikings News And Links, 3/11

USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to Monday, ladies and gentlemen, and we're just one day away from the start of the real free agency period in the National Football League. We had been hoping that the "legal tampering" period would have brought us some excitement, but unfortunately for us fans of the Minnesota Vikings, it really has not. Granted, the fact that we're not hearing about anything doesn't mean that there isn't anything happening, but we're all impatient to see what our favorite football team is going to do this off-season.

Since the last time we brought you an open thread. . .

-Eric let us know that, of the top 50 free agents in the NFL this off-season, only one (tackle Phil Loadholt) managed to crack Peter King's Top 50 list

-We got a new Adrian Peterson tribute video about him winning the NFL MVP Award, which is always nice

-We had the latest installment of our Mock Draft Database

-Arif put together another scouting report from the results of the NFL Combine, this one about the defensive tackles

-We looked at San Diego Chargers wide receiver Danario Alexander, a player the Vikings could potentially target despite his status as a restricted free agent

-California wide receiver Keenan Allen, who is blowing up the field in the Mock Draft Database, is going to see Dr. James Andrews about his ailing left knee today

-And then the Percy Harvin situation jumped back into the news, as we heard that he may or may not have (once again) demanded a trade, and Ted looked at how a potential trade demand would affect Minnesota's off-season plans

In other Vikings-related stuff

-Punter Chris Kluwe has his thoughts on the new Sim City game. . .the rollout for which, in case you haven't heard, has been a complete disaster

-Minnesota legislators have their reactions to news of a new stadium for the Atlanta Falcons

-The largest Tecmo Bowl event in the nation took place in Wisconsin this past weekend. . .and the Minnesota Vikings were, by far, the most popular team

No real theme for this week's ambient music, I don't think. . .I'm just gonna toss some random songs out there for this week.

Can't go wrong with some Flight of the Conchords. The fact that this comes from Craig Ferguson helps, too. (I wanted to use the version from their HBO special, but I couldn't find a decent version without the swearing and stuff.)

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for Monday, ladies and gentlemen. As usual, no politics, no religion, and no bad language in the Open Thread. We'll have some more good stuff for you as the day goes on here.
