Minnesota Vikings News And Links, 4/19

Jim Rogash

We've made it to the end of the week, ladies and gentlemen. By this time next week, we'll know who the Minnesota Vikings have selected in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, and will be anticipating the start of the second round.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-The big news from yesterday is that the 2013 NFL schedule was released. We have the Vikings' 2013 schedule for your viewing pleasure, and will have more on it throughout the day today.

-Eric also unlocked the final group of Minnesota Vikings' uniform spoilers. We'll know what those look like by this time next week, too.

-We tipped you off to a conference call conducted by Mike Mayock of the NFL Network concerning the upcoming draft.

-We also let you know that Greg Childs is pretty optimistic about the progress he's making. . .with good reason, it appears.

From other outposts around the internet. . .

-NFL.com is saying that the Vikings are looking to trade up in the 2013 NFL Draft. We'll examine this further as well.

-Ben Goessling of the St. Paul Pioneer Press takes a look at the Vikings' 2013 schedule.

-Tom Pelissero is reporting that the contract that Antoine Winfield signed with the Seattle Seahawks is largely performance-based.

-Pelissero has also started breaking down the Vikings' position groups, as he's gone through the cornerback and linebacker positions.

For your ambient music. . .forget the whole tax thing for today. With everything that's going on today, this one's for Boston, and the men and women that have been on the lookout for the bombing suspects all night long.

The rules for the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been. No politics, no religion, and keep the bad language to a minimum. As an addendum to that for today, if you want to discuss the happenings in Boston/Watertown, do not make it political and do not make it ideological. If you want to have those sorts of discussions, there are about eight billion other sites around the internet where you can make that happen. This is not one of them.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for Friday, folks. Have a good one, and keep an eye out for more Vikings stuff over the course of the day.
