While the action was moving fast and furious for the Minnesota Vikings and their fans towards the end of the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, there were other things happening at Winter Park as well.
After he visited Winter Park a week ago, the Vikings have inked former Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions defensive lineman Lawrence Jackson to a one-year contract, according to numerous sources.
Jackson was a first-round pick of the Seahawks in 2008 out of the University of Southern California, and spent two years in the Pacific Northwest before getting shipped to the Detroit Lions before the 2010 Draft. He has 19.5 career sacks through his first five season, with his career best being six with the Lions in 2010.
This is clearly a "prove it" type of contract for Jackson. He has an opportunity to make some noise on a Vikings team that have a lot of free agents on the defensive line. If he can do that, he could parlay that into a decent payday, whether that's in Minnesota or somewhere else.
Welcome to Minnesota, Lawrence Jackson! You can follow him on Twitter at @LoJackson94.
