Vikings 2014 Mock Draft v1.0

I think it is time for a never too early 2014 Mock Draft for the Vikings. After a really good draft (sans the punter), I am hoping the Vikings take a small step forward. I feel that there could be some favorites no longer with the team after this season. The Vikings have to think about life after these players.

I also think the team needs to try to get younger still. I cannot predict a QB for the team so I will leave that out. I am hoping that Ponder can take the next step. If he has the same kind of year again then we should be very worried.

I am hoping for a similar finish with maybe winning at least one playoff game. That would be a step forward. It all depends on Ponder. I am basing my mock off a finish somewhere between 23 and 32.

1. Christian Jones OLB Florida State Sr 6-3 232
Jones is a prospect I really like. He popped out when I was watching FSU this past season. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42tPU2PerxU
This kid can do it all! I am afraid he is going to go earlier but not today. :)

2. Brandon Coleman WR Rutgers rJr 6-5 220
This is a big WR who is fast too. I think the team will need more WRs next year because I fear Simpson will not be all they hope. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zhPTLZ3Tdc
I think it is wishful thinking to expect Coleman to be here too. But you never know with the pre-draft crapola. He could get pushed down. Maybe I need to swap Jones for Coleman? Maybe I will have to trade up some to get Coleman? :)

3. Ra'Shede Hageman DT 4 Minnesota rSr 6-5 302
I have not seen much of Hageman but I am sure the homers can speak about his ability. He is big and you can never have enough big boys IMO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMHSDtZeNZU
I think he looks pretty good and could go before this as well.

3. Deandre Coleman DT 3 California rSr 6-5 309
Back to back DTs? WTF? Yes sireee. We need to get Floyd some help. Quickly.

4. Scott Crichton DE Oregon State rJr 6-3 263
Obviously the DE spot will be a concern next year as the top 3 could leave. I doubt that happens but one is likely to be gone. The only question is which one? So the Vikings need to continue to add more DEs to the program. I like Crichton.

5. Jack Mewhort OT Ohio State rSr 6-5 310
We will need another guard and probably earlier than this but Spielman likes to take his interior linemen laater in the draft. We can hope Baca and Bond will be ready but they were late round picks too. I can let Ted expound on this pick.

6. Antone Exum CB/S 12 Virginia Tech rSr 6-0 224
He converted from safety to corner and hurt his knee in March. He may not even play this season. But I like him late.

7. Owamagbe Odighizuwa DE UCLA Sr 6-3 270

Well there it is. I apologize for leaving out the UDFAs.

I realize I need help. :)
