It's a pretty big day for fans of the Minnesota Vikings, as we sit a little more than 13 hours away from the reveal of the team's new stadium. The big reveal will be done at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis starting at 7 PM Central time this evening. If you're not able to make it to the Guthrie and get one of the available tickets, the whole thing will be streamed live on the team's official website. You can expect to see our Open Thread for the stadium reveal here about an hour before the festivities begin.
In addition, Eric is going to be on KSTP-5 in the Twin Cities at some point today. . .once we get the official time, somebody will pass it along. . .as part of a stadium "roundtable" discussion that will take place before the reveal. Like I said, once the time gets firmed up, we'll let everyone know when it is.
UPDATE 9:50 AM: Eric will be on KSTP's 4:30 PM CT edition of Eyewitness News with none other than KSTP Sports Director Joe Schmit. Set your DVRs! If you happen to miss it, we'll try to post the video as soon as it's available online.
Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .
-We let you know that the folks that make the books at various gambling locales aren't giving the Vikings much of a chance in 2013.
-We gave you this handy-dandy collection of every player the Minnesota Vikings have ever selected in the NFL Draft.
-We wondered whether or not the stadium we'll see tonight is going to have a retractable roof or some other similar feature.
-And Ted took his first stab at what he thinks the Vikings' 53-man roster is going to look like.
From some other outposts around the internet. . .
-NFL.com takes a look at what the 2013 NFL Draft will do for the Vikings, specifically their defense.
-The Minneapolis Star-Tribune wonders which of Minnesota's sports teams will be the next to win a playoff game. Yeah, the Vikings are probably the correct answer.
-Philly.com takes a look at how local guy Gerald Hodges is adjusting to life in the NFL.
As always, the rules are the Open Thread include no politics, no religion, and no bad language. Remember, people are potentially reading this at work.
I mentioned on Friday that this week's ambient music theme was going to be wrestling entrance music. (Quite frankly, it's one that I could do for weeks.) In light of today's big announcement, I figured this might be a good way to start off.
That laugh is nothing short of amazing. I met the guy at a book signing in Fargo back when I was a teenager. Dude's hands were humongous.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for a Monday, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy your Monday, even if the hours drag along waiting for the stadium reveal to take place. Remember, 6 PM Central time the Open Thread for the reveal will come up here at your favorite Minnesota Vikings website.
