Super Bowls Awarded To Santa Clara, Houston

@49ers on Twitter

At the National Football League owner's meetings yesterday, the league awarded Super Bowl hosting rights to two more cities.

Super Bowl XLVIII will be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey this coming February. Super Bowl XLIX will take place at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. We knew both of those going into yesterday.

Super Bowl L. . .or 50, for us non-Roman types. . .will be held in February of 2016 in the not-yet constructed stadium that the San Francisco 49ers will be calling home. It will be the Golden Super Bowl in the Golden State. (What the National Football League did there. . .did you see it?) Super Bowl LI will be played in 2017 at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

Miami was rumored to be a candidate for either of the two games, but after their latest bid for funding for stadium renovations ran into some road blocks, they fell out of things rather quickly.

The next Super Bowl that will be up for grabs for hosting will be Super Bowl LII, which will take place in February of 2018. I'm not sure if you've heard about it or not, but there have been rumors going around that there's a pretty sweet stadium that's scheduled to go up in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area in the near future. I'm quite sure that it will be nice and ready to go for a February 2018 Super Bowl.
