Minnesota Vikings News And Links, 5/24

Hannah Foslien

It's Friday, everybody! We've made it through another week, and we've nearly made it through another month, even. A lot of you are probably taking the day off. . .and, let's face it, if you're at work, the odds are probably good that you're either leaving early or searching for the end of the internet. In either case, come on in and hang out with your fellow fans of the Minnesota Vikings!

Since we last brought you an Open Thread. . .

-We had a couple of tidbits on Jared Allen, as he found himself on the NFL Network's Top 100 list at #60. He also said that the Vikings had not approached him about re-doing his contract, and if he was offered a pay cut he'd be "out the door."

-New Vikings' punter Jeff Locke has some similarities to Chris Kluwe, the man he replaced, but seems to be significantly less vocal about his thoughts.

From some other outposts across the internet. . .

-Speaking of Jared Allen, last weekend he held his fourth annual "Night Ops" golf tournament in Arizona. It appears that a good time was had by all. (I so want to make it to that tournament one of these days. . .and I'm not even any good at golf.)

-MOAR ALLEN! ESPN's Kevin Seifert takes a look at whether 2013 will be the final year in Minnesota for the mulleted one.

-CSN Baltimore takes a look at our favorite football team from the perspective of the reigning world champion Baltimore Ravens, who the Vikings will play in Charm City in Week 14.

-I missed this Fox Sports North article from a few days ago talking about some of the progress that Greg Childs has made in his rehab from two torn patellar tendons.

The rules here in the Open Thread are the same as always, folks. No religion, no politics, keep the bad language minimized as much as possible, and don't feed the trolls.

I couldn't decide which song to go with for today. . .so in lieu of a song, enjoy some of the work of one of the greatest promo guys in the history of sports entertainment.

As it says in the comments in the video, you have to admire the "grab some random object from the locker room and build a promo around it" style.

Enjoy your Friday here at your favorite Minnesota Vikings' website, everybody. We'll be back with more for you later on.
