Minnesota Vikings News And Links, 5/31

USA TODAY Sports

It's the last day of May, everybody! We've made it through another month, and we're now exactly 100 days away from the Minnesota Vikings' 2013 season opener at Ford Field when they take on the Detroit Lions. So, that gives us something to look forward to, at the very least.

Since we last brought you an Open Thread, we've had a veritable explosion of articles for your viewing pleasure. . .

-Kyle took a look at how the Vikings' Organized Team Activities went.

-Eric told us that, according to the Dallas Cowboys' draft board, the Minnesota Vikings had a pretty good draft last month.

-We wondered out loud who should be the next player to become a part of the team's Ring of Honor.

-And we noted that the folks from Pro Football Focus have put their "Secret Superstar" spotlight on tight end/fullback Rhett Ellison.

From other outposts around the internet. . .

-Two nice bits from the St. Paul Pioneer Press, one about Chris Cook now being the "wise, old leader" of the secondary and one about Greg Jennings' role as mentor to rookie Cordarrelle Patterson.

-Speaking of Jennings, as was reported back when he signed, he got the "ins and outs" of going from Green Bay to Minnesota from a source that's pretty familiar with such a transition.

-Tight end John Carlson is expecting a whole lot more from himself in his second season with the Vikings. (Him. . .and pretty much everybody else.)

The rules for the Open Thread are pretty much the same as always, folks. . .no religion, no politics, no bad language, and don't feed the trolls.

Your ambient music for today. . .

There are a lot of interesting cover versions of songs out there. Maybe next week I need to find a few more of them.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for Friday, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy the rest of your day, and we'll be efforting to bring you more good stuff as the day goes on.
