Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament: Cris Carter Advances

Paul Chapman-USA TODAY Sports

Matt Blair is, quite possibly, the greatest linebacker ever to take the field for the Minnesota Vikings. Unfortunately for him, however, he ran into the man that could be considered the greatest at his position in Minnesota Vikings history.

Cris Carter became the first person in our tournament to advance to the Sweet 16, scoring a relatively easy defeat of Blair in their first round match-up. When all the votes were tallied up, the soon-to-be Hall of Famer had racked up 217 "recs" from our readers, while Matt Blair could only manage 17 "recs." As I said, Blair was a great one for a long time, to be sure, but Cris Carter is one of the NFL's all-time greats at his position. It's tough to compete with that.

In the Sweet 16, Carter will take on the winner between the match-up between safety Paul Krause and center Matt Birk. That match-up will take place on Tuesday, July 23.

Thanks to everyone that voted in this match-up in our Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament, and keep your eyes peeled for more to come!
