Minnesota Vikings News And Links, 7/25

USA TODAY Sports

TWENTY-FOUR, TWENTY-FOUR HOURS TO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! But do I want to be sedated? Heck no, because it's almost time for football! At this time tomorrow, our favorite football team will officially be on the field for Training Camp. Isn't it great?

Still haven't heard anything further on the draft pick signing front. We're now down to just 11 of the 32 first round picks across the NFL not having signed. The bad news is that three of those players are Minnesota Vikings' draft picks. The good news is that the players drafted at #22, #24, and #26 have signed their deals, which means the contracts for Sharrif Floyd (#23) and Xavier Rhodes (#25) should be relatively simple to figure out, and I wouldn't wager that a deal for Cordarrelle Patterson (#29) would take much to figure out, either. I would be shocked if something didn't come down during the course of the day today on that front.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-Skol Girl, with a big assist from our FaceBook fans, put together this handy guide for visiting Mankato if you're making the sojourn for camp.

-Eric helped everyone out with some Vikings-related names for your fantasy football team. (Alas, the days of my personal favorite. . .Boats and Shiancoes. . .have come and gone.)

-Our Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament gave you the last two match-ups of the second round, with Kevin Williams taking on Jim Kleinsasser and Chris Doleman going against Anthony Carter. Voting for those match-ups is open for about another hour.

From some other sites around the internet. . .

-The Vikings have plenty more to prove in 2013, despite their 2012 progress.

-Adrian Peterson hosted a two-day camp last weekend in Texas. (Sure beats the heck out of how he spent most of last off-season, huh?)

-The National Football Post asks "What happens after 300 carries?" Our favorite running back is featured.

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as always, ladies and gentlemen. No politics, no religion, don't feed the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum. . .or, at the very least, use the spoiler tags if you feel the need to curse.

Dog Week moves on with our ambient music for today.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for Thursday, everybody! Keep your eye out for more news here, and enjoy the rest of your day.
