Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament: (7) Chad Greenway vs. (10) Ahmad Rashad

We are officially half way through the first round of our Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament, everybody! We'll have an updated bracket for you here either today or tomorrow, and we should have the first round completed by about this time next week. Thanks to everyone for keeping up with things so far!

This match-up pits the clear best linebacker on the current squad against a guy that might have been the recipient of the most famous pass in Minnesota Vikings history (although I'm sure Greg Lewis would object).

Chad Greenway

Alma Mater: University of Iowa
Acquired by Vikings: Round 1, 2006 NFL Draft
Seasons in Minnesota: 7 (2006-2012)
Position: Linebacker

Things got off to a bit of a rocky start for Chad Greenway in his Vikings career. . .he tore his ACL on special teams in the first quarter of his first pre-season game and missed his entire rookie season. He hasn't missed a single game since then, getting onto the field for all 16 games in the past six seasons. Easily the Vikings' best and most consistent linebacker, Greenway has been named to two Pro Bowls, and was the recipient of the team's Ed Block Courage Award in 2007 for his comeback from knee surgery.

Ahmad Rashad

Alma Mater: University of Oregon
Acquired by Vikings: Trade with Seattle Seahawks prior to 1976 season
Seasons in Minnesota: 7 (1976-1982)
Position: Wide receiver

Hey, guys go from Seattle to Minnesota, too, apparently! Rashad, like Sammy White, is another guy whose name probably doesn't come up often enough in the pantheon of great Vikings receivers. He caught an even 400 passes in purple, putting together back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 1979 and 1980. He's sixth in team history in receptions and seventh in yards with 5,489. He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection, winning the MVP award in the 1978 edition of the game. And, as mentioned, he caught what is possibly the most famous pass in team history.

What a great call on that play, eh folks? Rashad finished that game with nine catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns.

Here's a review of how the voting process works, folks.

-If you want to vote for Chad Greenway, rec the comment that says, "Vote - Chad Greenway"
-If you want to vote for Ahmad Rashad, rec the comment that says, "Vote - Ahmad Rashad"

Don't rec both comments. . .we're on the honor system here, folks. Although I don't know why you'd rec both anyway. . .you'd end up just canceling yourself out.

Please do not reply to either of the top two comments. . .if you want to debate or make your case or what have you, feel free to do so underneath those top two comments. Remember. . .only recs count, so make sure that's how you register your vote.

The voting will remain open until 8 AM Central time tomorrow, at which point the next two match-ups will be posted.

Have at it, everybody!
