It was a battle between two old-school Vikings in our Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament. But, in the end, it was hard for folks to vote against the guy who has been a part of the Minnesota Vikings franchise for as long (or longer) as most of the people who voted have been alive.
Scott Studwell moved on to the second round of our tournament by knocking out receiver Sammy White. When the votes were tallied, Studwell had amassed 168 "recs," compared to just 27 "recs" for White.
I'm not going to lie to you, folks. . .I thought this one was going to be significantly closer than it ended up being. But, as I said, when a guy has been part of an organization for 36 years, he definitely deserves to be placed among the greatest the franchise has ever seen.
In the next round, Studwell will take on the winner of the match-up between defensive end Jim Marshall and kicker Blair Walsh. (I've said it before, and I'll say it again. . .yeah, I know.)
Thanks to everyone for participating in the Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament. We certainly hope you've enjoyed everything so far!
