In what wound up being a very tight match-up (for the most part) between two Minnesota Vikings Hall of Famers, the result was a fairly familiar outcome. . .one of the greatest receivers in the history of the National Football League managing to get the best of a guy that was supposed to be stopping him.
Cris Carter became the second player to punch his ticket to the Elite 8 of our tournament, as he took down safety Paul Krause to advance to the next round. When the votes were all finalized, Carter wound up receiving 115 "recs" from our readers, while Krause managed to receive 99 "recs." A lot of people respected what Krause brought to the table in terms of coverage, but in the end Carter was simply too much. It's a fitting tribute to #80 as he prepares for his induction into Canton this Saturday.
In the next round Carter will face the winner of what I feel, quite honestly, is the most intriguing match-up of the tournament to this point. In that match-up, the man that was mentored by Carter, Randy Moss, will take on one of the symbols of old-school Vikings' football in Jim Marshall.
But that match-up isn't until next week, folks. . .keep an eye out for more match-ups and more results in the meantime!
