The underdog actually got a significant amount of support, considering that he was a #15 seed in our Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament. However, in the end, the man that's been with the Minnesota Vikings since the beginning just couldn't get past the leader of the current defense.
Jared Allen notched a pretty one-sided victory over Fred Zamberletti in their first round match-up. When the final numbers were finally tallied, Allen managed to come out with 114 "recs," while Zamberletti got himself 44 "recs" from the Daily Norseman's readers. Considering that the other three 15-seeds in this tournament managed just 34 combined recs, that's pretty impressive.
In the second round, Allen will get to take on one of his old running mates in defensive tackle Pat Williams. Phat Pat beat Rick Spielman in the first round to advance.
