Minnesota Vikings News And Links, 8/12

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

We're kicking off another week here, ladies and gentlemen, which means we're just a few days away from the Minnesota Vikings' second pre-season game of 2013, when they will travel to upstate New York to take on the Buffalo Bills. Until then, we'll continue having more great coverage of Vikings Training Camp as things wind down in Mankato.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-If you want to look back at our coverage of the Vikings' 27-13 loss to the Houston Texans, the whole stream is right here.

-Safety Joey Browner will be the next Viking enshrined in the team's Ring of Honor.

-Our quest to determine the Greatest Viking Of All Time has reached the Elite 8 stage. The first match-up will be posting here in about an hour or so.

-What did Leslie Frazier think of the Vikings' first pre-season game? Read it for yourself right here.

-Sharrif Floyd had an MRI on his knee on Sunday, but no damage was found and he will be back practicing soon.

-Our fantasy football leagues will be coming along soon, so let us know if you're interested!

From some other places around the internet. . .

-The St. Paul Pioneer Press reminds us that Christian Ponder must "win the confidence game" for the Vikings to be successful in 2013.

-Receiver Stephen Burton is now turning heads rather than causing them to shake.

-It sounds like former Vikings receiver Randy Moss has found himself a job. . .in television. With Fox, no less. (Wonder if he and Joe Buck will cross paths in the cafeteria lunch line.)

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as always, ladies and gentlemen. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum/use the spoiler tags if you feel the need to curse.

No real theme for this week's ambient music. . .just whatever song strikes me when I'm putting the post together here.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for Monday, ladies and gentlemen! We'll have the Training Camp thread up by 10 AM Central time, so keep an eye out for that and the first Elite 8 match-up of our tournament!
