Minnesota Vikings News And Links, 8/15

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

Well, folks, it's our first day without Training Camp coverage in a few weeks. But cheer up, because we're only a day away from the Minnesota Vikings taking on the Buffalo Bills in the second pre-season game of 2013! We've got some stuff coming up later today on the game, and some other things for your reading pleasure as well.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-Eric put up his final notes from Vikings' training camp, which are a must read. He also put up his own personal photos of his camp experience.

-We had not one, but two, stories about fullback Jerome Felton yesterday, so we combined them into one post.

-Ted put up a look at what he wants to see in tomorrow's game. (He also did Five Good Questions with our friends from Buffalo Rumblings, which be up later on today.)

-Arif put up his analysis of what the offense did in the first half against the Texans last week.

-Cris Carter advanced to the Final Four in our Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament, where he will meet the winner of the match-up between Fran Tarkenton and Alan Page. (Voting closes in about an hour for that one, and the final Elite 8 match-up will go up at that time as well.)

From some other sites around the internet. . .

-MOAR FULLBACK (stories). . .here's another piece on the emergency appendectomy that Jerome Felton underwent yesterday.

-Speaking of our friends at Buffalo Rumblings, according to them it will not be rookie E.J. Manuel starting at quarterback for them tomorrow, but the suddenly well-traveled Kevin Kolb.

-Christian Ponder is "still getting used to" Greg Jennings' routes. Good thing they still have time to work on that.

-Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton says his faith in the Wilf family has been "undermined" by the recent finding in their New Jersey civil case. (He's also shocked. . .shocked. . .that there's gambling going on in this establishment.)

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as always, folks. . .no religion, no politics, no feeding of the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum/use the spoiler tags if you feel the need to curse.

For our ambient music today, a song that I like quite a bit. . .and since I couldn't find anything resembling an "official" music video, I grabbed this video of one of my favorite video games of the past 12 months, which just happened to use it as its intro music.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Thursday, ladies and gentlemen! Enjoy the rest of your day, and we have plenty of good stuff coming your way this morning and this afternoon.
