Minnesota Vikings News And Links, 8/21

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

Hey, everyone. . .guess what day it is!?

(Thought I'd get it out there before anyone else did.)

It's Wednesday here at The Daily Norseman, and while we're still a few days away from the Minnesota Vikings' next pre-season contest. . .Sunday night this week, remember, not Friday. . .we still have plenty of stuff to talk about.

Unfortunately, all we were able to bring you yesterday was Bud Grant advancing to the Championship of our Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament, and the other Final Four match between Cris Carter and Alan Page. In less than an hour, our Championship match-up will be set, as will the Consolation game, which will happen on Thursday.

From some other sites across the interwebs. . .

-The Vikings have signed defensive end Spencer Nealy, who signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M, but was released by Detroit on August 1.

-A judge has heard arguments about funding for the Vikings' new stadium.

-Desmond Bishop got his Super Bowl jersey stolen.

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as ever, folks. . .no religion, no politics, no feeding of the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum/use the spoiler tags if you feel the need to curse.

More ambient music for you for today.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for Wednesday, folks! We will have more stuff for you today than we did yesterday, so keep your eyes open.
