Mullet. Glorious, glorious mullet.

Here we are again, ladies and gentlemen, inching ever closer to the next Minnesota Vikings' pre-season contest when they take on the San Francisco 49ers in prime time on Sunday night. We've got some other stuff to keep an eye on as well, so let's get to it.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-Alan Page advanced to the finals of our Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament, setting up a huge battle with Bud Grant for the championship.

-We got together with our friends from Niners Nation and took a look at some position battles that bear watching in Sunday's pre-season contest.

-Eric found this video of some folks that are quite happy that Vikings' training camp is staying in Mankato.

-Mark has already started scouting for the 2014 NFL Draft. My shocked face, where is it?

From some other outposts across the internet. . .

-The Vikings need cornerback Chris Cook to remain healthy.

-Apparently the Vikings' offense isn't quite as good without the league's Most Valuable Player. Gee. . .who knew?

-Former Viking Brad Culpepper and his wife Monica will be competing on the next season of Survivor. (In related news, Survivor is apparently still on the air.)

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've always been, folks. . .no religion, no politics, no feeding of the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum and/or use the spoiler tags if you feel the need to curse.

More randomness for your ambient music for today.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for Thursday, ladies and gentlemen! Enjoy the rest of your day, and keep an eye out for what we've got coming for the rest of the day here.
