I got dressed up for this? Seriously?
I got dressed up for this? Seriously?

The third pre-season game is in the books for the Minnesota Vikings, ladies and gentlemen. Overall, it was an uneven effort, to say the least. It's a short turn-around to the pre-season finale, as the Vikings return to the Metrodome on Thursday for a battle with the Tennessee Titans. We'll have as much on that as we can here for you in that short amount of time.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-Ted's got your Stock Market Report from last night's action.

-If you want to look back at everything we had leading up to the Vikings' game last night against the San Francisco 49ers, the whole stream is right here.

-Ted talked about the potential delays for the new Minnesota Vikings' stadium. (SPOILER: Nothing bad is going to happen. . .sorry, "Los Angeles Vikings" morons.)

-We crowned a winner in our Greatest Viking Of All Time Tournament, as the legendary Alan Page took down the prize. Adrian Peterson also took down Cris Carter in our Consolation Match.

From some other outposts around the internet. . .

-Defensive tackle Kevin Williams is a bit perturbed about the cheap shot he took last night from something named Joe Looney.

-The Vikings didn't answer a whole lot of questions in their third pre-season contest.

-New ESPN Vikings' beat writer Ben Goessling (formerly of the St. Paul Pioneer Press) thinks that quarterback Christian Ponder actually did some good things last night. In a related story, Ben Goessling is set to be dismissed as an idiot by a good portion of the Vikings' fan base in the next day or two.

(I don't think Mr. Goessling is an idiot. . .but come on, you know what I'm saying is true.)

-Apparently one of the fans that got onto the field at Candlestick last night was laid out by. . .Jerome Simpson?

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as always, ladies and gentlemen. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum/use the spoiler tags if you feel the need to curse.

I'm not sure why this theme popped into my head for our ambient music this week, but to heck with it. . .it's "running" week. Only one way to start this off right.

And remember, kids. . .if it isn't David Lee Roth, it isn't really Van Halen. (And that whole "Gary Cherone" thing sure as heck never happened, much like everything after Rocky fought Ivan Drago.)

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Monday, ladies and gentlemen! Have a good rest of your day, and we'll effort to have some more good stuff for you as the day goes on.
