Minnesota Vikings News And Links, 8/29

Thearon W. Henderson

It's game day, folks! We'll have the Game Thread up and running for you about an hour before kickoff at the Metrodome this evening. Sorry that we haven't gotten the usual amount of coverage for tonight's game, but with the quick turn-around that will happen. Short weeks during the regular season, on the other hand, we will get you our full complement of coverage.

Since the last Open Thread. . .

-Arif took a look at the Vikings' first round of roster cuts. The next ones will come on August 31, or less than 48 hours after tonight's game concludes.

-We cobbled together a quick Q&A from the folks at SB Nation about our Minnesota Vikings.

From some other outposts around the internet. . .

-The state of Minnesota is still in the process of reviewing the Wilf family's finances.

-USA Today has the "five most important useless facts" about the Minnesota Vikings. Yes, that's the actual title.

-Decision day is getting closer for running back Zach Line, courtesy of The MMQB.

-The Vikings' recent issues at defensive tackle might give guys like Chase Baker a real shot at making the team.

-As you'd expect, the Vikings rank pretty high on SI.com's ranking of the NFL's best backfields.

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been, ladies and gentlemen. No politics, no religion, no feeding the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum/use the spoiler tags if you feel the need to curse.

We keep. . .er, running. . .with our musical theme this week, in honor of those that are trying to keep their hopes of making the Minnesota Vikings' roster alive.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for Thursday, everybody! Keep an eye out for the Open Thread about an hour before kickoff, and we'll attempt to have something to fill the gap before that time.
