Going into tonight's enshrinement ceremony at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Cris Carter said that his speech was not going to be about him, but about all of the people that got him to where he did in his life and career.
He did not disappoint.
Giving the final speech of the evening's seven inductees, Carter gave what can only be classed as an amazing speech. He thanked his family, fellow players, coaches. . .pretty much everyone. It was the second-longest speech of the night, according to folks that were tracking that sort of thing on Twitter, but that really didn't matter. I think Carter could have talked for a couple of hours and nobody would have said anything.
Below, you can see the speech in its entirety.
You can also read the full transcript of the speech here.
Congratulations to Cris Carter on finally being enshrined in what he referred to several times as "football heaven." It was a long time coming, and it is incredibly deserved.
